eJDS Help
eJDS is used to access the eJournals mainly in the fields of Physics and Mathematics made available to your
country by the service.
Make sure that you already
registered to the service.
What is eJDS?
A free document delivery service for articles mainly in physics and mathematics, offered by
several leading Publishing Companies
- subject to the conditions
established by each Publisher.
Who Can Apply?
Any scientist from eligible countries. If your country is listed in the
eJDS main page,
then you can apply and be registered. Otherwise, we regret you can't.
Which Are the Eligible Countries?
Eligible Countries,
are those authorized by the Publishers; in general,
low-income or lower-middle income countries.
Which Journals are available to me?
Check the list in the
eJDS main page,
or view the
full list.
Select your country and see the Publishers, and the titles, that you can access.
How do I request an article?
Once you have made sure that the journal title and year you need are available to you, use the article DOI
or URL of the Publishers article page. You will receive the article in your email inbox in pdf format.
How Can I Change My Registered email Address?
Send a request directly to
ejds@ictp.it,
and we will change it. Keeping your email updated is important,
since you need it to log into eJDS and to receive the articles.
Do I Need to Re-Register Every Year?
No, your registration does not expire.
If I Am Registered, Can I Use the ICTP Library eJournals from Home?
No. There is no relation between eJDS and the ICTP Library collections.
How Many Articles Can I Request?
Each publisher allows a maximum of daily, monthly and yearly downloads. When you login
you can see your remaining downloads per publisher in the "Download Summary".
Quotas are reset as follows:
"Daily" at midnight Central European Time UTC+01:00,
"Monthly" on the 1st day of the month,
"Yearly" on the 1st of January each year.
How Do I Recombine Files split in parts?
PDF files that are larger than 1 Mb are split into parts, for an easier delivery via email. They still count as
single requests. Recombining them may seem complicated, but it is not. Just follow the instructions
prepared for you in the email of the first part. Please note, that under Microsoft operating systems you will
need to run the command from a command line prompt. If you are using Linux or Mac OS you will need to
open a terminal window. (Under Mac OS the terminal window is found under Applications -> Utilities ->
Terminal)
Can I Tell My Friends About eJDS?
Yes, the service is open to any scientist from eligible countries. Please spread the news!
